FAQ

  • Where are you located?

I’m in the Colorado Club Offices, 4155 E. Jewell Ave, Suite 708, Denver, CO 80222. I also offer telehealth to Colorado residents.

  • What are your hours?

    Daytime and evening appointments, Monday–Friday.

  • Do you take insurance?

I don’t bill insurance directly. I’m out-of-network but can provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement.

  • Why don't you take insurance?

I don’t bill insurance to protect the flexibility, privacy, and quality of your care. Insurers set limits on session frequency/length or require prior authorizations and extra documentation, which pulls time away from our work. Staying out-of-network helps us tailor treatment to your individual needs.

  • Who do you work best with?

I work best with people who are motivated to change and open to reflection—even when that brings mixed feelings. We’ll work collaboratively and at a pace that fits you.

  • What ages do you work with?

I work with children, adolescents, and adults (including young adults). When I work with children, I actively involve caregivers—for example, periodic caregiver-only sessions and shared goal-setting.

For teens, I balance confidentiality with appropriate caregiver involvement.

  • How are medications used in my treatment?

Medication is one tool among many. We’ll consider it when it can support your goals (e.g., anxiety, mood, attention, sleep) and decide together after reviewing benefits, risks, and alternatives. If we use medication, we’ll aim for the lowest effective dose and adjust or stop when it’s no longer helpful.

  • How is therapy used in my treatment?

Therapy is central to care. We explore patterns, emotions, and motivations—some outside of awareness—that may be keeping you stuck. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy (and psychoanalysis) helps us notice how these themes show up in relationships, work, and even between us, creating room for choice and change. This approach can be a good fit if prior therapy helped but you sense deeper issues still need attention.

  • How does psychoanalytic psychotherapy work?

Sometimes fixed, unconscious patterns feel like a room we’re stuck in. In this treatment, we explore the recurring patterns and feelings that shape how you relate at home, at work, and in our sessions. By noticing what repeats (and why), putting feelings into words, and linking past to present, you gain more choice and flexibility. Over time, those patterns loosen and new options open up.
